Understanding Bloodborne Pathogens: Bloodborne Pathogens and the Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act

In 1991, OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Standard was put into effect because injuries caused by needles or other sharps were still an issue. The Needle Stick Safety and Prevention Act, which required certain revisions be made to the original Standard, was passed.
