When working with if statements, there may come a time where you want to check if two or more conditions are true before executing some code. From what we've learned so far, this is how we would accomplish that:

<pre>
int age = 35;

if(age &gt;= 30)
{
 if(age &lt; 40)
 {
 Debug.Log("Age is in the thirties!");
 }
}</pre>

Now this works fine, but with conditional operators, we can shrink the code down quite a bit. Let's introduce the logical AND operator. This is an operator that we can use with an if statement to check if two or more conditions are true. Let's see it in action:

<pre>
int age = 35;

if(age &gt;= 30 &amp;&amp; age &lt; 40)
{
 Debug.Log("Age is in the thirties!");
}</pre>

We are only using one if statement to check two conditions. The &amp;&amp; is the symbol we use for the logical AND operator. Basically what's happening, is that the if statement is only true - thus running the encapsulated code - if both conditions are true. Here's another example in which an if statement would not run:

<pre>
int age = 58;

if(age &gt;= 30 &amp;&amp; age &lt; 40)
{
 Debug.Log("Age is in the thirties!");
}</pre>

Notice that the age variable has been set to 58. When we reach the if statement, we are first checking to see if the age is greater than or equal to 30, which it is. Then we are also checking to see if the age is less than 40, which it is not. Thus, the if statement will not run. So using the logical AND operator is great if you wish to check multiple conditions within the same if statement.

Another conditional operator we can use is called the logical OR operator. This works in a different way to the logical AND. This makes it so an if statement will run if at least one of the given conditions are true.

<pre>
int num = 2;

if(num == 1 || num == 2)
{
 Debug.Log("Success!");
}</pre>

You'll see we use the || symbol, which is what we use for the logical OR operator. The above if statement would run, because it checks the two conditions and if either one of them is true, then we are good to go.

Functions

We just had a look at what functions were and how we can use them in our scripts. Here's an example we looked at, where we have a function called Add, which takes in two numbers and returns a result:

void Start ()
{
 float number = Add(2.5f, 3.77f);
}

float Add (float a, float b)
{
 float sum = a + b;
 return sum;
}</pre>

So in the Start function, we are creating a float variable called number and setting it equal to the Add function's return value. Now you'll also notice that for the two parameters, a and b, we are sending over float values. This is fine, but it's also important to know that you can replace these numbers with variables. Let's modify this a little bit to showcase what I mean:

<pre>
void Start ()
{
 float health = 40.0f;
 float healAmount = 10.0f;
 float newHealth = Add(health, healAmount);
}

float Add (float a, float b)
{
 float sum = a + b;
 return sum;
}</pre>

You can see that I have two variables, health and healAmount. Then a third variable called newHealth which is the sum of both health and healAmount. With the Add function call, I am sending over those two variables which at the end of the day are float numbers. As long as the type of variable matches the type of the function parameter, then it's good to go!
