Personal character is the sum of your moral and ethical qualities. It is these same qualities that provide the foundation for your working relationships.

This course helps you to reflect on your work behaviour and how this manifests in terms of integrity. Without this it is impossible to lead and manage a team with any degree of lasting success. Nor is it possible to survive in an organisation, which is not dedicated to ethical relationships.

Before you commence tutorial 1 you need to carry out an assessment of your current level of knowledge in this skill. 

This BASELINE ASSESSMENT is used as a starting point for determining how much knowledge you have gained, once you have completed the module.

A comparison will be made with your final knowledge assessment, so it is important that you fully understand what you are learning in the tutorials.

Baseline Assessment Personal Character

Quite often character and personality tend to be used as inter-changeable terms. However, there are distinct differences between the two terms and their meanings. 

Character is actually a set of behaviour traits, that define what type of person you are, in terms of your values and beliefs. Personality, on the other hand, is inborn. Character, however, comes from learned behaviour, developed from your early relationships. 

This course comprises eight course tutorials and sets out to assist you in improving the positive behaviours, within your personal character.

Introduction to Personal Character

Tutorial 1 | Honesty

This is your ability to remain firmly faithful to people and your organisation as well as your ability to resolve conflicts of loyalty.

Tutorial 2 | Trust

This is your ability to actively demonstrate your patient endurance of other people and to make allowances for their circumstances.

Tutorial 3 | Tolerance

This is your ability to actively demonstrate your willingness to do good for others and to act with generosity.

Tutorial 4 | Kindness

This is your ability to actively demonstrate high consideration for others and to refrain from violations of their rights and interests.

Tutorial 5 | Respect

This is your ability to actively demonstrate your capacity to recoil or rebound from difficulties and then remain firmly dedicated to your purpose.

Tutorial 6 | Resilience

This is your ability to demonstrate emotional security and accept responsibilities and accountabilities without worry and anxiety

Tutorial 8 | Loyalty

Final Assessment Personal Character

The transfer of the knowledge you have acquired from this course is a critical stage in the development of your skills and abilities, aligned to your current and future job roles.

What you have learned needs to be applied and practiced within the context of your job from this point forward. By this means you will improve your own performance and level of competence.

It takes commitment and time but the pay back will be self-evident.

To assist you in this process, there are implementation guidelines to provide you with a series of action points for you to implement and practice as part of your day-to-day activities.

The development plans are designed to provide a framework for you to plan and track your actions, identify issues and problems and monitor your progress. Print further copies of the relevant document if you require continuation sheets.

This process should prove very effective in improving your job performance, as well as providing you with an important portfolio of evidence, on which to build your career development plans.
