Sometimes, traditional approaches to dyslexia rely on "hard graft" repetition and rote learning that produce short-term results but fall short on permanence of learning and a conceptual grasp of the subject matter. As a Davis methods trainer, dyslexia author, and former SENCo, Richard will share key insights into: - the assets of the dyslexic thinking style - why consistency of focus can be difficult during conventional learning, and how this can be remedied - how to create a single, qualitative learning experience as an antidote to repetition and rote. There will be a particular focus on multisensory learning that emphasises pictures and meaning; examples will demonstrate how the Davis approach utilises plasticine clay to bring words and images together to anchor meaning.
